North American Cannabis Holdings with legendary Bears Quarterback, Jim McMahon, have launched the Cannabis Sports Policy Project (CSPP) in what Super Bowl 50 has made a seminal moment in the marijuana legalization movement. The NFL is coming under mounting pressure to reevaluate its bar against the use of marijuana by players when evidence is becoming apparent that marijuana maybe instrumental in managing head trauma and offering an alternative to addictive prescription pain killers.
Jim McMahon is an advocate for medical marijuana. As a result of injuries incurred while playing in the NFL, he has endured 18 surgeries and now lives with chronic pain. Medical marijuana has enabled McMahon to end a pharmaceutical pain killer habit.
The movie Concussion is extending the reach of Dr. Bennet Omalu’s (played by Will Smith) discovery of chronic traumatic encephalopathy while conducting an autopsy of former NFL football player Mike Webster (played by David Morse).
At the same time, one story after another is coming to light and one player after another is coming forward to make public the benefit of cannabis in mitigating the effects of head trauma and managing the pain from other injuries:
North American Cannabis Holdings is an entrepreneurial cannabis consumer products development company founded on the belief that cannabis makes lives better. Cannabis can fight disease and improve wellness. Since its launch in 2013, North American Cannabis Holdings has piloted almost a dozen different cannabis business pilot projects. The Company is currently commercializing two of its projects - a cannabis infused beverage cafe under the brand name AmeriCanna Cafe and a line of sports and fitness nutritional supplements under the brand name EVERx.
One of the North American Cannabis Holdings pilot projects includes a joint venture with a not for profit organization named Nature Comfort Meds (NCM). NCM holds a United States patent for a medical marijuana and hemp cannabis extraction process. NCM’s research and development has resulted in positive benefits for treating illnesses including veterans suffering from PTSD, children with autism, various types of cancer, patients with a variety of neurological disorders, pain management, auto-immune disorders and seizures due to Epilepsy.
The North American Cannabis Holdings and Nature Comfort Meds JV pilot project was reorganized under a separate company, Puration, Inc., in order to improve the investment prospects for funding the pilot project with a dedicated capital structure. The three Companies, North American Cannabis Holdings, Puration and NCM are all working to solidify plans for a commercial application of NCM's patented extraction process. Puration, Inc. is the first corporate sponsor of the Cannabis Sports Policy Project separate from its founder American Cannabis Holdings, Inc.
The Cannabis Sports Policy Project operates separate from North American Cannabis Holdings to raise awareness for the benefits of medical marijuana over pharmaceutical pain killers in the management of pain from injuries incurred by athletes in addition to raising awareness for the potential of medical marijuana to mitigate the long-term damage that can result from repetitive head trauma. The Cannabis Sports Policy Project will also raise funds to advocate for pro cannabis policy changes within sport governing bodies.
